A Day in Universal Studios Singapore

Amusement parks do not only cater to families, they also make for an awesome venue for a date with one's significant other. I was lucky to have experienced it both ways! Opened in 2010, Universal Studios Singapore is the first and only Universal Studios theme park in Southeast Asia and is a must visit when in SG.

Located on Sentosa Island, a massive resort playground just south of mainland Singapore, USS covers almost 20 hectares; small by Universal theme park standards but packed with all the crowd favorites. It is also part of the larger Resorts World Sentosa complex, which includes a casino, SEA Aquarium, and several luxury hotels.

A note from the writer: this is a pre-pandemic tale with additional post-pandemic photos.

Here's a pic of us back in 2019.

And our return in 2023, this time with the little guy.

Going in the middle of the week seems to be the perfect strategy for beating long lines!

Singapore's legendary heat is no joke! Thankfully, shade is plentiful and all stores and restaurants as well as most ride queues are air conditioned.

Popular with children of all ages, the Spaghetti Space Chase features the complete Sesame Street gang!

Here's the little guy striking his best "funny" pose.

The park is divided into 7 immersive zones: Hollywood, New York, Sci-Fi City, Ancient Egypt, Jurassic Park, Far Far Away, and Minion Land (formerly Madagascar).

Each zone is decorated with movie-accurate details, soundtracks, and costumed characters (yes, you can high-five Optimus Prime and Shrek in the same hour).

Transformers: The Ride 3D uses advanced motion simulation and 4K projections to put you in the middle of a Decepticon battle.

When it first opened, the ride had an insanely long waiting time of almost two and a half hours!

Going in the middle of the week was really the right move!

The most iconic ride is Battlestar Galactica: Human vs. Cylon, the world’s tallest dueling roller coaster back when it opened.. with separate coasters racing each other.

A tangled masterpiece! One must go on the ride twice to get the full experience.

The Ancient Egypt zone was inspired by the Mummy movie series, complete with massive Anubis statues and sand-blasted vibes.

Revenge of the Mummy is an indoor high-speed coaster with surprise launches, fire effects, and spooky scarabs set amidst a dark atmosphere.

It's my favorite ride in the whole park! They really got the spirit of mystery, adventure, and creepiness down.

The Jurassic Park zone is definitely a crowd favorite!

What kid didn't dream of going through this iconic gate? Complete with theme song!

Not to mention the witty snack bars and shops!

Easy on the wallet there, son!

Seeing our favorites in action is 🔥

I love all things medieval and Far Far Away zone is no exception!

The Far Far Away Castle is a replica of the one from Shrek 2!

And the whole area was built with amazing detail!

Hello fam!

A zone that no longer exists is the family-friendly Madagascar with the Crate Adventure ride.

This zone has been replaced with the equally family-friendly Minion Land.

Love these guys!

One more for the road! We'll be back again for sure!
